MILESTONES OF FAITH
The history of BICC Church based on the testimony of Founding Mother, Pdm. Rosmery Hasibuan.
FROM THE HEART OF OUR MOTHER
Pdm. Rosmery Hasibuan
"Only by the grace of Jesus can we do what God has done; nothing can be done by ourselves except through the work of the Holy Spirit."
The Call at the Tuak Shop
It all started here. During a revival meeting, the late Rev. Firman Tampubolon heard God's voice while drinking at a local bar at 1 AM. He responded to the altar call and his life was transformed.
Dedicating the Son
While attending a service in Batu Malang, God moved Mother Rosmery to dedicate her son. She wrote down the name 'Nelson Tampubolon' (10 years old at the time) to serve the Lord.
First Service
Sunday service began at home on Jl. Sisingamangaraja No. 61. Attended by only 2 families and the pastor's family. A humble beginning filled with faith.
Vision & Struggle
After a seminar by Paul Yonggi Cho in Korea, Rev. Firman's heart burned to build a large church. Persecution came: pillars built on Jl. Durian were knocked down overnight. The church responded with prayer and fasting.
Miracle of Permit
God moved the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Suparjo Rustam, to give a recommendation letter directly to the Governor. The land on Jl. Tuanku Tambusai (current location) was secured.
The Cost of Calling
Rev. Firman decided to go into full-time ministry. He left his business and sold his assets as the Main Dealer of Suzuki Riau to fund the building of God's house.
The Church Stands
Within 2 years (1985-1987), the church construction was completed. The vision God gave became a reality.
Joining GBI Gatsu
The church joined GBI Jl. Jend. Gatot Subroto (GBI Gatsu) under the leadership of Rev. DR. Niko Njotorahardjo. Rev. Firman became the Senior Pastor of GBI Rayon 11.
Generational Leadership
The baton was passed. The late Rev. Firman Tampubolon handed over the leadership to his son, Rev. Dr. Ricky Nelson Tampubolon.
